Our Approach to Fieldbus
Foxboro is the leader in Fieldbus technologies and solutions for one reason: we listen to our clients and provide the solutions they need. Over the past 100 years Foxboro has come to know our clients and can confidently say we deliver the solutions they need. We do so by leveraging a truly open automation system, the I/A Series System, that interoperates with the multiple device types, from multiple vendors, with multiple protocols, commonly found in process plants. Speed, elegance, and simplicity in all phases of the fieldbus lifecycle are our goals in providing solutions to clients.
Because we recognize different fieldbuses are important for different types of devices, we adopted a strategy that brings multiple bus technologies into the I/A Series system in a unified fashion. Our open I/O subsystem lets users combine a number of signals on the same controller, including HART, Foundation Fieldbus, FoxCom, Modbus, Ethernet, Profibus DP, PLCs, and conventional I/O signals. Foxboro also realizes the significant value that combining EDD and FDT technologies adds to existing fieldbus offerings and as such has made FDT a core part of the fieldbus architecture.
Feature: Foxboro Fieldbus Architecture
Foxboro’s Field Device Manager is designed to eliminate the complexity associated the configuration, start-up, maintenance and replacement of smart devices, resulting in significant savings for operations. By bringing together both FDT/DTM and EDDL technologies into one tool, Field Device Manager leverages the strengths of each allowing them to work together throughout the entire lifecycle.
