I/A Series Process Controllers

New FCP270 and ZCP270 process controllers

Building on the robust, well-proven process control capabilities of Foxboro products, powerful new control processors have been added to the I/A Series family of process controllers. The new FCP270 and ZCP270 controllers have been designed to enable a host of new functionality in the I/A Series system including:

FCP270 Controller

The Field Control Processor 270 (FCP270) is a distributed, field-mounted controller module that supports up to 64 series 200 Fieldbus Modules (FBMs). The FCP270 connects to The Mesh control network via standard fiber optic 100 Mbps Ethernet. The FCP270 is an optionally fault-tolerant station that performs regulatory, logic, timing, and sequential control together with connected Fieldbus Modules (FBMs). It also performs data acquisition and alarm detection and notification. The fault-tolerant version of the FCP270 consists of two processor modules. These modules install in adjacent FCP270 slots in a baseplate for high speed communication between the modules. The FCP270 flattens and simplifies the I/A Series architecture. The new I/A Series architecture only requires field enclosures plus a control room for consoles and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Ethernet switches.

The field-mounted FCP270 is an integral part of the highly-distributed Control Network where controllers are closely aligned to specific process units mounted in close proximity to their I/O and the actual equipment being controlled. Coordination between process units takes place via rapid, optionally redundant communication between the controllers over the fiber optic 100 Mbps Ethernet network. The unique form factor of the FCP270 allows for DIN rail-mounting, moving control to the field. With a flattened architecture and increased capacity, the number of devices and networks is simplified, contributing to a more cost effective solution.

ZCP270

The Z-Module Control Processor 270 (ZCP270) is a Z-form factor controller that supports up to a maximum of 32 Fieldbus Communications Modules (FCM100Ets) and 120 Fieldbus Modules (type 200 series FBMs). The ZCP270 connects to the control network and FCM100Ets via standard fiber optic 100 Mbps Ethernet. The ZCP270 is an optionally fault-tolerant station that performs regulatory, logic, timing, and sequential control together with connected Fieldbus Communications Modules (FCMs) and Fieldbus Modules. It also performs data acquisition and alarm detection and notification. The fault-tolerant version of the ZCP270 consists of two single-width processor modules. These modules install in adjacent ZCP270 slots in a 1x8 or 2x8 mounting structure and connect to a fault-tolerant connector to allow for high-speed communication between the modules.

The ZCP270 uses the same form Z form factor as our older controllers and is perfect for updating existing facilities to the newest technology.

CP60 controller

The Control Processor 60 (CP60) is an optionally fault-tolerant station that performs regulatory, logic, timing, and sequential control together with connected Fieldbus Modules (FBMs). It also performs data acquisition (via the Fieldbus Modules) and alarm detection and notification. TheCP60 supports two basic families of I/O modules, those included in the DIN rail mounted FBM subsystem and Y-Module form factor FBMs. The CP60 also supports communication with the Hydrostatic Interface Unit (HIU), Mass Flowmeter, Panel Display Stations and a variety of migration interface cards that provide a simple Migration approach to upgrade from Moore, Bailey, Honeywell, Fisher, and Westinghouse legacy DCS systems. The CP60 communicates with all associated devices via a 10 Mbps Ethernet Fieldbus.
