Industrial Computer Enclosure and Console Solutions

Invensys provides modular, factory-hardened packaging capable of withstanding the harshest plant environments.

Flexible, Reliable Workstations

I/A Series system workstations are general-purpose desktop or tower computers from industry leaders Dell Computer (Windows) and Sun Microsystems (UNIX). For industrial environments, computers and monitors can be mounted in a console.

Modular industrial consoles

I/A Series Modular Industrial Consoles can hold display units, input devices, processors, Fieldbus Modules, and data storage devices. I/A Series Modular Industrial Workstations are similar, but offer a metal frame and plastic surfaces.

Command Center

Built for operators, the new I/A Series Command Center maximizes comfort and visibility by combining the latest display technology and advanced human-machine interface techniques. Flat-panel displays and compact Enclosuredesign provide large views and reduce space. LCD monitors use 90% less power than CRTs, emit less heat, resist magnetic field distortion, and have virtually no EMI or RFI emissions.

The I/A Series Command Center Console is offered with an LCD screen mounting arrangement where both the lower and upper LCD displays are mounted on extendible arms that are attached to the Command Center on a post. In addition, the Command Center wedge sections can also be equipped with LCD monitors.

These mounting options improve the ergonomics of the Command Center Console by bringing the upper screen much closer to the operator and allowing maximum adjustability of the viewing angles of both the upper and lower screens. The operator can also have a dense arrangement of LCD screens yet still be able to arrange them easily to maximize his comfort and performance.

Hardened enclosures

For even greater reliability in harsh environments, you can choose such options as a sealed, contactless mouse and sealed data-entry and alarm annunciator keyboards.

I/A Series hardened enclosures provide rugged, environmentally secure housing for Windows or UNIX workstations. Enclosures are dust, water, and oil-proof, and are resistant to most contaminants. They may be hosed down, and meet the stringent requirements of food processing (no glass) and pharmaceutical (no glass or stainless steel). A built-in cooling system maintains internal temperature.

Monitors are viewable through 20-inch (diagonal) polycarbonate or safety glass windows. Operators interact with displays through a hardened pointing device or hardened keyboard with pointing device. A rubber membrane covers full-travel keys. Sealed doors provide easy front and rear access to internally mounted items.

I/O Enclosures

The DIN rail mounted FBM subsystem enclosures provide a range of equipment mounting options to match system application requirements. Innovative design of the enclosures allows input/output modules to be distributed closer to the process without special environmentally conditioned control or equipment rooms.

There are three types of enclosures:

• B03 – a floor-standing, 32-position enclosure with a NEMA 4 rating

• B04 – a floor-standing, 32-position enclosure with a NEMA 12 rating

• B05 – a wall-mounted, 16-position enclosure with a NEMA 4 or 4X rating.

Depending on the enclosure type, the DIN rail mounted FBM subsystem enclosures offer the following features:

• Environmental protection to permit mounting in mild, harsh, or severe environments

• Accommodation of various quantities of baseplates, which determine the number of Fieldbus Modules (FBMs) and Field Communication Modules (FCMs) per enclosure

• Compact design to minimize use of floor space, allowing maximum number of enclosures in a control room environment

• Generous space for field I/O wiring, termination assemblies

• Power supplies (optionally redundant) to provide and maintain power for the baseplate-mounted equipment.

Current I/A Series user
? Invensys offers you both the means to keep your plant operating at peak performance and the ability to keep your automation system current without the expense, downtime and the significant reinvestment of engineering and control strategy design that is necessary when replacing an older system. The Advantage Program is designed to allow you to upgrade components of your current I/A Series system easily and cost effectively by simply swapping out older components and replacing them with new hardware and software.

Moore, Bailey, Honeywell, Fisher, or Westinghouse user? Invensys’s superior Migration program provides a fast, easy, low-cost and low-risk solution to upgrade from legacy DCS systems to a new I/A Series system. Using our field-proven Plugged-in I/O modules, Invensys can upgrade your current system to the latest I/A Series system without lifting a process wire.
