Industrial Control System I/O Integration

Field Device System Integrator (FDSI) modules for the I/A Series system are low-cost, field-mounted, and available in either simplex or high-availability redundant/fault-tolerant configurations for both Ethernet and Serial (RS232/485) field devices.

The appropriate software drivers for the third-party I/O devices (OPC, Modbus, ControlLogix, etc.) are simply downloaded into these device integrators to provide seamless integration of the devices into the I/A Series system database and control strategies.

One of the hallmarks of the I/A Series system has been the ease with which Invensys enables integration of other company’s automation products. With these new integrator modules, it’s even easier and more cost-effective to do so than ever before. The rugged, compact FDSI modules mount in standard, field-mounted I/A Series baseplates – side-by-side with system Fieldbus I/O Modules – and communicate with the system controllers via Invensys’s high-performance (100 Mbps/1Gbps), ultra-high-availability Foxboro field network. Each FDSI module can support up to 64 devices.

Product Integration

Information and alarm integration between the I/A Series system and FactorySuite A²™ software from Invensys. This integration allows these two powerful offerings to be used in tandem for providing dock-to-dock automation and information strategies. By permitting information and alarming freely to flow and be managed across these software offerings, it gives I/A Series system customers the ability to add new industrial intelligence solutions across all of their plant systems — leveraging the latest Web portal, wireless PDA, Web browser, telephony, and thin client technologies. The combination of Wonderware and Foxboro plant floor device integration is unmatched in the industry — over 1500 device and protocol types are supported (including all of the popular fieldbuses and OPC).

Delivering information whenever it is required to whoever needs it has never been easier. As the I/A Series system evolves, additional ArchestrA infrastructure services will be integrated — ensuring new heights of productivity, lower lifecycle costs, and instant integration of your most demanding plant applications.

Current I/A Series user? Invensys offers you both the means to keep your plant operating at peak performance and the ability to keep your automation system current without the expense, downtime and the significant reinvestment of engineering and control strategy design that is necessary when replacing an older system. The Advantage Program is designed to allow you to upgrade components of your current I/A Series system easily and cost effectively by simply swapping out older components and replacing them with new hardware and software.

Moore, Bailey, Honeywell, Fisher, or Westinghouse user? Invensys’s superior Foxboro Migration program provides a fast, easy, low-cost and low-risk solution to upgrade from legacy DCS systems to a new I/A Series system. Using our field-proven Plugged-in I/O modules, Invensys can upgrade your current system to the latest I/A Series system without lifting a process wire.
